Education Project Funded by Aga Khan Foundation Launches in Bamyan Province

Work has commenced on a $666,298 education initiative in Bamyan province, funded by the Aga Khan Foundation. The project is designed to expand educational infrastructure and academic support services throughout the region.

Education Minister Mawlawi Habibullah Agha and Bamyan Governor Qari Gul Haider Shafaq attended the launch ceremony to mark the start of the program. During the event, officials highlighted the Islamic Emirate’s ongoing commitment to public service and the expansion of educational access.

The initiative encompasses several key components aimed at strengthening local schooling. It includes the construction of three schools and community learning centers, alongside the establishment of 52 pre-school classes, 247 support classes, and 185 remedial classes. The project will also introduce 22 long-term educational programs and distribute stationery supplies to 150 classrooms.

Addressing attendees, officials stressed the importance of combining modern academic instruction with religious education. They stated that the project aligns with provincial efforts to improve learning environments and provide structured academic support for students. The initiative is expected to significantly enhance local learning capacities and provide structured academic pathways for youth in the region.

The Aga Khan Foundation’s funding covers the total cost of the initiative. Provincial education authorities indicated that implementation will proceed under departmental oversight, with the goal of delivering the outlined services to students and educators across Bamyan.
