Ghazni Province Exports 13,000 Tons of Dried Fruits in Solar Year 1404

Ghazni City (Afghan Verified) - The Ghazni Industry and Commerce Directorate reported that 13,000 tons of dried fruits were exported from the province during solar year 1404.

Ahmad Shah Lale, director of export development at the directorate, said the exports included almonds, raisins and dried plums, shipped to Tajikistan, Turkey, India, Iran, the United States and several Arab countries. He noted that Ghazni's dried fruits hold a strong reputation in global markets for their quality and that traders earned millions of dollars from the sales. Lale added that the exact revenue figure is unavailable due to the lack of a customs office in Ghazni, with most exports handled directly by traders.

Traders highlighted ongoing challenges despite the export volume. Anargul, a dried fruit trader, said inadequate standard packaging and a weak transport system hinder proper delivery to international markets. He called for government-established processing and packaging centers to allow exports under local branding with improved quality.

Majib Jalalzai, another trader, echoed these concerns, stating that products are currently shipped in non-standard bags and cartons, leading to spoilage and reduced value. He urged the distribution of industrial towns, better marketing facilities and a proper export system to multiply export volumes.

Mohammad Asif Ahmadi, an economic affairs expert, said Ghazni's dried fruits enjoy a good reputation regionally and globally. He emphasized that investments in processing, standard packaging and market access could significantly boost the national economy, create jobs and increase incomes.

Ghazni is known for its high-quality almonds, raisins, dried plums and other dried fruits, popular in both domestic and foreign markets.
