Mawlavi Muti al-Haq Khalis, head of the National Environmental Protection Administration, stated at the launch of a national tree-planting campaign in Baghlan province that planting and protecting trees is one of the most effective measures to mitigate climate change impacts and improve air quality.

The campaign, under the slogan "Reviving the Earth, the Tradition of the Prophet (PBUH)," was inaugurated by the administration in Baghlan. Attendees included Mawlavi Muti al-Haq Khalis, Baghlan Governor Mawlavi Abdul Rahman Haqqani, Emirate administration officials, and citizens.

Governor Haqqani described the day as a national one and urged all Emirate administrations and citizens to actively participate in planting, watering, and protecting saplings to transform Baghlan into a green and prosperous province.

Khalis highlighted Afghanistan's vulnerability to climate change, noting it as one of the countries most affected, with consecutive droughts, floods, reduced water resources, and destruction of agricultural lands. He emphasized that tree planting prevents soil erosion, strengthens groundwater, and improves air quality.

Khalis also underscored the Islamic significance of trees, calling tree planting a virtuous act, ongoing charity, and a religious and national duty. He called on all citizens to contribute to greening, vitality, and prosperity of the country, fulfilling responsibilities to current and future generations.

Participants expressed support by planting saplings at Baghlan University.
