UNFPA: More Than 147,000 People Received Health Services in Afghanistan
KABUL (Afghan Verified) -- The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) announced that, with support from the Afghanistan Special Trust Fund, it provided health services to 147,545 people across various parts of the country.
UNFPA reported on Thursday that these services included health care for pregnant mothers, newborns, children and adolescents, contributing to stronger family health.
The services were delivered through UN-supported health centers, enabling women and children in remote areas to access essential care.
UNFPA stated that these centers offer basic medical services to the most vulnerable groups, including internally displaced persons, returnees and host communities.
Afghanistan's fragile health system and insufficient services, particularly in remote regions, have posed serious challenges for pregnant mothers.
Shortages of equipment, lack of medicines and limited access to treatment facilities have deprived many women of necessary care, endangering the health of mothers and newborns.
