KABUL (Afghan Verified) -- The leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has issued a decree directing municipalities across the country to regulate street vending activities.

The decree, dated 1447/9/5 in the Hijri lunar calendar, mandates municipalities to designate specific areas for street vendors, issue free identification cards, create a database tracking vendors' details, activity types and locations using GPS, and provide stall designs at no cost. Municipalities are also required to conduct continuous supervision to prevent the sale of expired or prohibited goods.

Street vendors must register, maintain cleanliness in their areas, and refrain from using loudspeakers or other noisemaking devices. The measures aim to prevent urban disorder and congestion while supporting orderly business operations.

Violations will result in disciplinary actions, including warnings, eviction from designated areas, revocation of operating rights, or referral to courts, according to the decree's provisions.
