Nearly 1,000 Afghan Refugee Families Return from Pakistan and Iran

The High Commission for Solutions to Refugees' Problems reported that 980 Afghan refugee families returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan and Iran on Saturday, the 29th of Wray.

The families crossed into the country through four border points. Of these, 820 families returned via Torkham in Nangarhar province, 117 via Spin Boldak in Kandahar province, 36 via Wesh in Nimroz province and 7 via Islam Qala in Herat province. On the same day, a total of 7,299 refugees and 711 passengers via Nimroz returned to the country.

The commission provided assistance to over 1,000 families across the entry points and in Kabul, including 745 families in Torkham, 73 in Spin Boldak, 23 in Wesh, 7 in Herat and 157 in Kabul. Forms of support included registration, transfer, financial assistance, short-term accommodation and awareness programs.

The commission's Information and Public Awareness Department conducted information sessions for the returnees on the Islamic system, migration, patience, education and other topics. The returning families also received 1,314 SIM cards.
