Two U.S. Warplanes Downed Over Iran and Near Strait of Hormuz, Reuters Reports

Reuters reported that an F-15E Strike Eagle was shot down over southwestern Iran, leaving one crew member missing while another was rescued.

An A-10 attack aircraft crashed in the Gulf region near the Strait of Hormuz, marking a significant incident amid deepening U.S.-Iran tensions.

Two U.S. Black Hawk helicopters dispatched to search for the missing F-15E airman came under fire from Iranian forces but managed to exit Iranian airspace safely.

Iranian forces are conducting searches in the crash area, with state-linked messaging urging civilians to assist in locating the missing crew member.

The incidents have raised questions about U.S. air superiority in the region. In response to potential Iranian-linked retaliation threats, the U.S. Embassy in Lebanon issued a security warning, advising Americans to remain vigilant and consider departing the country.

Lebanese universities, including the American University of Beirut, have moved some activities online as a precautionary measure amid the escalating conflict.
