UK, France, Australia Press US, Israel to Include Lebanon in US-Iran Ceasefire

France, Britain and Australia have urged the United States and Israel to extend a recent US-Iran ceasefire to include Lebanon following deadly Israeli strikes there that killed at least 182 people and wounded more than 1,100 others, according to Lebanese officials.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot condemned the strikes as one of the heaviest days of bombardment and stated that the ceasefire must cover Lebanon. Britain and Australia called for immediate and broader regional de-escalation.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel supports the US-Iran ceasefire but not if it limits action against Hezbollah in Lebanon. His office clarified that the truce does not apply to the Lebanese front.

US Vice President JD Vance stated that Washington never agreed Lebanon would be covered by the ceasefire, describing Tehran's interpretation as a "legitimate misunderstanding."

Pakistan, which helped broker the ceasefire, indicated that Lebanon was part of the understanding. Lebanon has declared a national day of mourning over the strikes.
