10-Bed Hemodialysis Ward Opens in Helmand Province
A new 10-bed hemodialysis ward has officially opened in Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand province. The facility was constructed at a total cost of 13 million Afghanis, with funding provided by the Fatima Charitable Foundation.
The ward is located within the central medical stock of the Helmand Public Health Directorate. Provincial authorities confirmed that the unit is designed to serve patients diagnosed with severe kidney diseases, offering them a dedicated space for regular dialysis treatments. The facility aims to reduce the burden on patients who previously had to travel long distances for specialized renal care.
Helmand Governor Mawlawi Amanullah Mansour and Public Health Director Dr. Fateh presided over the inauguration ceremony. Speaking at the event, the officials emphasized the importance of the new ward in addressing local healthcare needs. They noted that the project reflects ongoing administrative efforts to expand medical infrastructure and improve service delivery across the province under the Islamic Emirate.
Health administrators indicated that the facility will integrate into the existing provincial healthcare network, providing specialized renal care to residents who previously faced limited treatment options. The opening underscores a coordinated approach between provincial authorities and charitable organizations to strengthen public health capacity in the region. Officials reiterated that similar projects are being prioritized to ensure broader access to essential medical services across Helmand.
