108 Homes Handed Over to Returnees in Farah Province

Provincial authorities in Farah have handed over 108 newly constructed residential houses to Afghan families returning from Iran and Pakistan. The housing project was financed by Qatar’s Al-Gharafa Foundation and aims to support the resettlement of repatriated migrants. The Islamic Emirate’s provincial administration coordinated the distribution, noting that the newly built homes are intended to provide stable shelter for families who have recently crossed back into the country.

Farah Deputy Governor Mawlawi Rahimullah Mahmoud announced the completion of the project during the handover. He stated that similar resettlement initiatives are currently underway across the province to accommodate returning families. According to the deputy governor, additional housing units are scheduled for distribution in the Mohammad Abad area in the coming months. He also urged humanitarian and development partners to increase their support for returnee communities.

Reports regarding the total cost of the construction project differ between local media outlets. Bakhtar News places the expenditure at $550,000, while Hurriyat estimates the funding at $5.5 million. Officials have not released a finalized public breakdown of the project’s budget.

The handover reflects ongoing efforts by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to address housing shortages for citizens returning from abroad. Provincial officials have emphasized the need for sustained cooperation with partner organizations to manage the influx of returnees and ensure access to essential services and infrastructure.
