The Embassy of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Tehran has made an announcement regarding prisoner transfers. According to the announcement, 165 Afghan prisoners were transferred from Iran to Afghanistan. This was done in the second phase of the eleventh round of the prisoner transfer committee. The transfers were carried out after the completion of identity verification. Legal procedures were also completed before the transfers took place.

The group of prisoners included eight men and one woman. These particular prisoners had been sentenced to death. The death sentences were pardoned. They were given long prison terms in place of the death penalty. The pardons were secured due to efforts made by Afghanistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The embassy in Tehran also contributed to these efforts.

One Iranian female prisoner was transferred from Afghanistan to Iran. This transfer happened as part of the same overall process. The day before, 408 Afghan prisoners had been transferred from Iran to Afghanistan. The prisoner transfer process is set to continue.

The announcement was issued by the embassy. It provided details on the numbers and the special cases involved in the transfers.
