
5.8-Magnitude Earthquake Kills Eight in Kabul's Bagrami District House Collapse
KABUL — A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck the Hindu Kush region around 8:45 p.m. local time on Friday night, causing a house to collapse in Kabul's Bagrami district and killing eight members of one family, according to the spokesman for the Kabul governor.
The incident occurred in the Gosfand Dara area of Bagrami, where a father, mother, four daughters and two sons died in the collapse, the spokesman said.
One person was initially reported missing following the house collapse, and at least one child was injured.
The earthquake was felt across large parts of Afghanistan and neighboring Pakistan. Seismic data from the U.S. Geological Survey confirmed the magnitude, epicenter in the Hindu Kush and time of the event.
