724 Families Return to Afghanistan in Single Day via Multiple Crossings

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan reported that 724 families totaling 3,693 individuals returned to the country in one day through four border crossings, with cash, transport, health and other assistance provided to many returnees.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan reported that 724 families, totaling 3,693 individuals, returned to the country in a single day through the Torkham, Spin Boldak, Pul-i-Abresham, and Islam Qala border crossings.

Deputy spokesman Hamdullah Fitrat, citing a report from the High Commission for Addressing Migrants’ Issues, said the largest number arrived via Torkham, with 657 families comprising 3,506 individuals. At that crossing, 504 families received more than 1.99 million afghanis in transport assistance to Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman, and Kabul provinces. Cash assistance of 5.2 million afghanis was distributed to 619 families, while health and telecommunications services were also provided at Omari Camp.

At the Spin Boldak crossing, 27 families with 147 individuals returned. Transport aid exceeding 667,000 afghanis went to 48 families traveling to Kabul, and 55 families received 450,000 afghanis. Food, health, and telecom services were made available there as well.

In Nimroz, at Pul-i-Abresham, 21 families of 88 individuals returned, alongside 782 other passengers. Two families obtained 18,000 afghanis, and 438 individuals accessed health services.

Nineteen families totaling 72 individuals entered through Islam Qala in Herat, where 124,000 afghanis were distributed.

The Transport Committee facilitated the movement of 110 families, or 621 individuals, from Kabul to other provinces using 446,350 afghanis in assistance.

In total, 662 families were transported to provinces, and 695 families received some form of aid.
