Afghan Peace and Justice Movement Secretariat: Our organization has never had a person-centered structure

KABUL — The Secretariat of the Afghan Peace and Justice Movement stated that the organization has never been person-centered or formed under the leadership of a specific individual.

In a statement issued on Saturday, 2 Hoot, the group rejected claims portraying it as led by Mohammad Hanif Atmar. It emphasized that the movement has been council-based and collective from its inception, with leadership defined on a temporary basis.

The secretariat clarified that Mohammad Hanif Atmar was only one of the founding members, a member of the leadership council and responsible for a specialized committee. He "has never been the official leader of the movement," the statement said.

The institution stressed that recent disputes are managerial and structural in nature, with no connection to ethnic issues. It described the movement as neither an individual project nor dependent on any specific person, calling introductions of it as led by one individual "incorrect and a distortion of reality."

Previously, the National Peace and Justice Movement confirmed a split among its senior members, announcing that five out of 17 leadership council members had separated.
