German police announced that a 43-year-old Afghan man, identified as Morteza Sadeghi, died from stab wounds in Hamburg. Sadeghi, the owner of the Sepideh restaurant known for Iranian and Afghan cuisine, was attacked on Thursday following an altercation with another man.

Sadeghi hailed from Herat, Afghanistan, and had immigrated to Germany about 35 years ago. Police received a report around 9:30 p.m. local time of a fight between two men inside the restaurant, which escalated to the parking lot behind the building. The victim sustained multiple stab wounds.

German media, including Hamburger Morgenpost, confirmed Sadeghi as the restaurant owner. Relatives rushed him to a local hospital, where he died shortly after arrival. Upon news of his death, family members and associates gathered at the hospital. Police deployed a large force, including about 20 patrol cars, to block access roads and prevent tensions.

Investigators have launched a probe into the incident. The suspect fled the scene, and no further details on his identity or description have been released.
