Afghanistan has added fast bowler Mohammad Salim Safi to its ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against India. The move follows Safi's six-wicket haul in the preceding Test match, which took place in challenging conditions. Safi had initially been selected only for the Test but impressed selectors with his pace, bowling near 140 kilometers per hour.
Head coach Richard Pybus described Safi's Test performance as outstanding. Pybus said the focus remains on the player's consistent performances and continued development. The ODI series is scheduled to begin next Saturday in Dharamsala.
The team held its final training session in Mohali ahead of the series. Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi were absent from that session. Rashid Khan is expected to join the squad in Dharamsala, while Mohammad Nabi recovers from illness.
