Afghanistan, China Review Health Cooperation, Capacity Building Efforts

KABUL — Officials from Afghanistan's Ministry of Public Health met with a Chinese technical delegation at the ministry's headquarters in Kabul to review and advance bilateral health cooperation, technical capacity building and traditional medicine development.

The discussions follow a recent visit to China by Health Minister Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali and an Afghan technical delegation. A statement from the Ministry of Public Health, posted on its X account, detailed the meeting's focus on strengthening scientific capacity in traditional medicine, improving disaster management capabilities, enhancing skills among healthcare workers for monitoring infectious diseases, establishing a dedicated traditional medicine center and inviting Chinese specialists to Afghanistan.

The ministry statement also referenced prior discussions held with the Deputy Head of China's National Health Commission. Those matters had been shared through the Afghan Embassy in Beijing, providing context for the current review.

Both sides expressed optimism for the phased implementation of commitments and agreements reached in previous engagements. The meeting underscores ongoing efforts to deepen health sector collaboration between Afghanistan and China, building on recent high-level exchanges.
