Afghanistan U-20 Football Team Departs for CAFA Championship in Tajikistan

Afghanistan's national under-20 football team departed for Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on Saturday to participate in the 2026 CAFA U-20 Championship.

The championship is being hosted by Tajikistan and is scheduled to be held from May 12 to May 17, 2026. The tournament features a group of national teams from the Central Asian region, including Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

The Afghan national team faces a series of matches over the course of the event. Their opening match is scheduled for May 12, where they will play against Turkmenistan. This will be followed by a match against Uzbekistan on May 13. Following these initial games, the team is slated to compete against the host country, Tajikistan, on May 15. The team's participation in the championship will conclude with a final match against Kyrgyzstan on May 17.

The travel to Dushanbe allows the squad to prepare for the upcoming fixtures as they represent Afghanistan in the regional youth football competition.
