
Afghanistan, Uzbekistan's Namangan Province Sign $514.8 Million Cooperation Agreements
KABUL (Afghan Verified) -- Cooperation agreements worth $514.80 million were signed between Afghanistan's private sector and businesses from Uzbekistan's Namangan province during business forums and a networking conference in Kabul.
Afghanistan's Ministry of Industry and Commerce announced the deals, which cover sectors including poultry production, cement and coal import and export, dry fruits and vegetables exports, as well as imports of oils, petroleum products, food, bitumen and copper. Other areas include pulses or beans, ghee, asphalt, non-alcoholic beverages exports, sports services and egg production.
The agreements followed the visit of a high-level Uzbek delegation to Kabul, led by Namangan Governor Shavkatjon Abdurazzoqov, or Abdulrazakov as named in one report. The delegation aimed to boost trade and investment ties between Kabul and Tashkent.
The event was attended by Afghan Minister of Commerce and Industry Nooruddin Azizi, Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Khanjan Alokzai, Uzbek officials and traders from both sides.
Azizi expressed appreciation for the cooperation and highlighted recent preferential tariffs by Uzbekistan to expand economic ties. Abdurazzoqov emphasized joint cooperation and the importance of peace and stability in Afghanistan for sustained partnerships.
