Afghanistan's Rashid Khan Joins ICC Players' Advisory Board
Afghanistan cricketer Rashid Khan has been appointed to the International Cricket Council's Players' Advisory Board.
The ICC announced the addition of Khan alongside Chamari Athapaththu from Sri Lanka, Wayne Madsen from Italy, Daryl Mitchell from New Zealand and Mady Green from New Zealand. The board also includes prominent players such as Australia's Pat Cummins and West Indies' Jason Holder.
The Players' Advisory Board, established in 2018, provides advice to the ICC on competitions, planning and players' rights. The latest changes aim to strengthen players' roles in decision-making processes.
The appointments follow recent meetings between the ICC and representatives from national teams. The board's expansion is intended to amplify players' voices on global cricket matters.
Rashid Khan, one of Afghanistan's leading cricketers, becomes the first Afghan representative on the advisory panel. The move highlights the growing influence of players from emerging cricket nations in international governance.
