Ahmad Massoud Calls for Afghan Unity Beyond Ethnic and Linguistic Divides
Ahmad Massoud, leader of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, urged Afghans on Sunday to stand together beyond ethnic and linguistic ties, emphasizing shared paths, ideals and pains.
In a post on his X account dated 16 Hamal, Massoud condemned malicious and divisive efforts, announcing his support for Fawzia Koofi's efforts and positions. Massoud stated that Afghanistan's wounds stem from internal rifts among its people and stressed the need for solidarity across ethnicities, languages and sects to achieve a free Afghanistan.
The statement comes amid attacks on Koofi from figures close to the previous government following her participation in two meetings about Afghanistan, one in Islamabad organized by a Pakistani entity in cooperation with her, and another in London.
Isa Mohammadi, an advisor to the National Resistance Front, drew criticism after manipulating and publishing a photo of Koofi on social media, using sexist language to attack her. The action provoked reactions on social media and in political circles.
