At least 23 people were killed when a passenger bus plunged into the Padma River in Bangladesh's Rajbari district near Daulatdia.

The incident occurred around 5 p.m. near ferry terminal number three in Daulatdia on Wednesday. The bus, traveling from Rajbari to Dhaka, fell from a ferry into the river.

Police inspector Russel Mollah said, "We have recovered 23 bodies so far. Some people may still be missing, while a few survived. As it is night, rescue operations have been partially paused, but a joint operation is ongoing."
