Britain Will Not Join US Plan to Blockade Strait of Hormuz

Britain has announced it will not participate in the United States' plan to blockade the Strait of Hormuz.

A UK government spokesperson, cited via BBC, stated that the strait should not be subject to tolls and that Britain is forming a coalition with France and other partners to protect freedom of navigation.

US President Donald Trump said NATO allies, including Britain, would take part in the US-led blockade and mine-sweeping operations in the strait. Trump announced the decision yesterday evening and warned that any resistance would be met with destruction.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated the blockade targeting ships to and from Iranian ports will begin on Monday at 10 a.m. Washington time, equivalent to 6:30 p.m. Tehran time, in accordance with Trump's order.

Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf responded that Iran will not bow to threats and will deliver a bigger lesson if tested.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the strait remains open for non-military vessels and warned that any military vessels approaching would violate the ceasefire and be dealt with severely.
