Canada Pledges C$20 Million to Ukraine's Energy Support Fund
Canada will provide C$20 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund to repair and strengthen Ukraine's damaged energy infrastructure.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko welcomed the contribution, thanking Ottawa for its support. She highlighted the aid's role in broader international efforts to sustain Ukraine's strained power grid amid ongoing attacks and harsh weather conditions.
The funding will support repairs to critical infrastructure, procurement of energy equipment, and development of resilient electricity generation capabilities. Ukraine has faced electricity shortages since late 2025, exacerbated by attacks and severe weather.
Canada has offered consistent support to Ukraine since Russia's invasion, contributing to various recovery and resilience initiatives. Svyrydenko noted that such assistance is vital for maintaining essential services during the ongoing challenges.
The announcement underscores continued international solidarity with Ukraine's energy sector, which has been repeatedly targeted, leading to widespread disruptions in power supply across the country.
