Construction has begun on a clean drinking water network in Biri village, located in the Patu district of Daykundi province. The project is funded by UNICEF with a total investment of 18,777,683 Afghanis.
Rahmatullah Wafa, the media officer for the Department of Rural Reconstruction and Development, detailed the infrastructure planned for the site. The project includes the construction of three concrete water reservoirs and two protective buildings, along with a pressure regulation system designed to manage the water flow effectively.
To ensure the water reaches the intended beneficiaries, the project involves the installation of 1.8 kilometers of piping and 180 taps throughout the village. Furthermore, the initiative includes the construction of toilet facilities for a local school, integrating sanitation improvements with the water supply project.
Once the construction is finalized, the network is expected to provide sustainable access to clean drinking water for 340 families and one school in Biri village. This project aims to improve the overall health and living conditions of the residents by providing a reliable source of potable water.
