Construction Begins on New Road in Kabul’s Ninth District

Foundational construction has officially commenced on a new roadway in Kabul’s ninth district, extending from the BB Mehro area to the Shahid Chahar Lari intersection. The infrastructure initiative was launched by the Kabul Municipality as part of broader efforts to modernize the capital’s transportation network.

Municipal authorities have confirmed that the new thoroughfare will measure three thousand eight hundred forty-six meters in length and span forty-five meters in width. These dimensions are intended to support increased vehicular capacity and establish a more efficient transit corridor through the district.

According to official statements, the project was designed to promote balanced urban development, address localized infrastructure priorities, and alleviate persistent traffic congestion in surrounding neighborhoods. Municipal representatives noted that the roadway will function as a key route for daily commuters and commercial transport operating in the area.

Authorities have established a twelve-month timeline for the substantial completion of the project. The construction schedule covers foundational grading, paving operations, and the installation of essential supporting infrastructure. Once the work is finalized, the new road is expected to streamline traffic movement and reduce travel times for residents across the ninth district.
