Construction Begins on Water Supply Network in Parwan Province
Construction has commenced on a new water supply network near Charikar city in Parwan province, marking the initial phase of a broader infrastructure project aimed at improving local access to clean drinking water. The initiative, which carries a total budget of 88 million Afghanis, involves the installation of approximately 59,910 meters of pipeline across the region.
According to project officials, the first phase of the network is designed to deliver potable water to nearly 2,900 households. The system’s overall infrastructure has been engineered to eventually accommodate up to 5,000 families as demand increases. Parwan Governor Sheikh Aziz ur Rahman Mansoor confirmed the launch of the works, emphasizing the administration’s focus on expanding essential public services in the province.
Technical Head Engineer Nadiullah Niazi outlined the operational timeline, stating that the project is being executed by the Emirate Urban Water Supply Company and is scheduled for completion within one year. Once fully operational, the network will draw from established local water sources and distribute treated water through the newly laid pipeline infrastructure to residential areas surrounding Charikar.
The development addresses longstanding water access challenges in the region, where many communities have historically relied on untreated wells and seasonal sources. Local authorities indicated that the completion of this phase will serve as a foundation for future utility expansions in Parwan, with technical teams already conducting preliminary assessments for subsequent network extensions.
