Construction has commenced on three clean drinking water networks in the Bakwa district of Farah province, aimed at addressing persistent water shortages for dozens of local families. The infrastructure initiative is being implemented with financial backing from the Solidarity organization.

Mullah Ziauddin Matin, the Director of Rural Rehabilitation and Development for Farah, outlined the technical specifications and budget for the development. He confirmed that the total cost of the project stands at 15.672 million Afghanis.

The engineering plan requires the drilling of three deep wells, each reaching a depth of 250 meters. In addition to the boreholes, contractors will construct three water storage reservoirs and lay 12,176 meters of distribution pipeline. The completed networks will deliver potable water directly to the villages of Haji Lala Jan, Shand, and Ghaziabad.

Provincial authorities noted that the project addresses a critical need for reliable water access in the district. By establishing dedicated infrastructure, officials expect to reduce the daily hardships faced by residents who previously traveled long distances to secure water for household and agricultural use.

Work on the site is actively progressing under the supervision of the provincial directorate. The allocated budget covers all phases of the construction, from heavy machinery operations for well drilling to the final testing of the pipeline systems. Completion of the networks will mark a significant step toward improving rural living standards in the area.
