The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has officially commenced the construction of an international cricket complex in the 16th district of Kabul. According to ACB officials, including Chairman Mirwais Ashraf and Engineering Head Mumtaz Omarzai, the facility will be situated on 86 jeribs of land in the Alokhel area.

The centerpiece of the complex will be a main stadium designed to accommodate approximately 40,000 spectators. To meet international playing standards, the stadium will be equipped with advanced lighting systems to allow for night matches. In addition to the primary stadium, the complex will feature two auxiliary fields and a dedicated cricket academy containing 25 practice pitches.

The project represents an estimated investment of $45 million and is projected to be completed within a six-year timeframe.

Beyond the development in the capital, the ACB has announced a broader strategy for infrastructure improvements across the country. These upgrades will target existing stadiums in Kandahar and Khost, as well as the Najibullah Taraki Stadium, to enhance the sport's capacity nationwide.
