Sheikh Abdul Rahman Munir, the Deputy Minister for Counter-Narcotics of the Ministry of Interior Affairs, led a delegation to Uzbekistan at the head of a group of officials. The purpose of the trip is to attend the 'International Narcotics Threats' meeting that is scheduled to take place on April 20.

The delegation is expected to present the Islamic Emirate's achievements, efforts and future programs regarding counter-narcotics to the participants at the conference. The participants will come from various countries around the world.

The conference will examine the international narcotics threats that exist and will look at methods to strengthen both regional and international cooperation to deal with these threats. The Afghan side will contribute to these discussions by sharing its own experiences.

The visit to the conference which is to be held in Samarkand was done at the invitation of Dr. Abdulaziz Kamilov. This provides an opportunity for the Islamic Emirate to engage directly with other stakeholders in the field of counter narcotics.

Sources indicate that the delegation is fully prepared to fulfill its role in the conference and to advance the goals of enhanced cooperation against the common challenge of drug threats.
