Eight-Kilometer Road Completed in Helmand’s Hazar Joft Market
Local authorities in Helmand province have completed the construction of an eight-kilometer road in the Hazar Joft market, located in the Germsir district. The infrastructure project, which has officially been handed over for public use, was carried out at a total cost of approximately 7.8 million Afghanis.
Mullah Mohammad Masoom Masoomi, the mayor of Germsir, confirmed the completion of the roadway and provided specific details regarding its development. Municipal records indicate that the exact expenditure for the construction reached 7,827,760 Afghanis. The newly paved route is designed to facilitate local transportation and support commercial activity in the area, addressing longstanding travel needs for residents and market vendors.
Officials stated that the project was fully financed through the district’s municipal budget. The administration highlighted that improving regional connectivity remains a central focus for local governance, with the completed roadway serving as a key component of broader public works efforts.
Looking ahead, municipal authorities have announced plans to initiate additional reconstruction projects across the district during the current Afghan calendar year. These upcoming infrastructure initiatives will similarly be funded by the municipal budget and are intended to further upgrade local facilities. District leadership emphasized that sustained investment in transportation networks will continue to be prioritized to support economic stability and improve daily commutes for communities throughout Germsir.
