Farah Officials and Iranian Delegation Discuss Road Project to Sheikh Abu Nasr Farahi Port
Officials from Afghanistan’s Farah province held talks with an Iranian delegation to expedite the completion of a key road linking to the Sheikh Abu Nasr Farahi Port. The meeting was attended by Mawlawi Rahimullah Mahmood, deputy governor of Farah, and Mir Mohammad Moudi, head of the roads and urban development department for Iran’s Birjand province.
Discussions centered on finalizing the remaining segments of the infrastructure project. Farah provincial authorities emphasized the need to complete a 12-kilometer section of the route and accelerate work on a second 9-kilometer segment designated for a secondary road layer. Both sides reviewed the current status of construction and outlined steps to address outstanding logistical requirements.
The Iranian delegation’s visit was coordinated under the direction of Iran’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development and the governor of Birjand province. During the meeting, Moudi indicated that he intends to travel to Kabul to hold further consultations with relevant national authorities and monitor the project’s overall progress.
The Sheikh Abu Nasr Farahi Port serves as a transit point along the Afghanistan-Iran border. Provincial officials stated that completing the connecting road is a priority for regional transport and economic coordination. Representatives from both sides agreed to maintain ongoing communication to ensure the infrastructure is delivered according to the established timeline.
