Fatima Shirzad initiated her business activities twelve years ago. She used an initial sum of ten thousand afghanis to begin selling precious stones and creating jewelry items. This start has led to the establishment of a comprehensive jewelry-making enterprise. The enterprise now includes a dedicated training center and a separate tailoring workshop.
Shirzad holds a bachelor’s degree in economics obtained from Kabul University. In addition to her academic credentials, she is a board member of the Kabul Women’s Chamber of Commerce. She completed her jewelry-making training at the Ferozkoh Institute. The institute itself was founded in the year two thousand six.
Following her training, Shirzad created her own center for teaching jewelry making. She also opened a workshop focused on tailoring. The tailoring workshop has seen the graduation of ten batches of students. This achievement occurred over a period of four years. The jewelry training center has been functioning for one year. During this time, it received a student who came from Daikundi.
The workshop under Shirzad’s management produces custom jewelry. The materials used include precious stones, gold, and silver. Through her various programs, dozens of women and girls located in Kabul have received training in these skills. Shirzad has made a call for increased support. The goal of this support would be to expand opportunities for women.
