KABUL — The National Disaster Management Authority under the Taliban reported Friday that floods, heavy rains and other natural disasters have killed 148 people, injured 216 and left eight missing across Afghanistan since the 6th of Hamal.
Spokesman Yusuf Amad said 139 houses were fully destroyed and 657 partially damaged in the affected areas. Over the past two weeks, heavy rains and floods have impacted 28 provinces.
In the last 24 hours, 15 people died and 18 were injured in incidents across multiple provinces, Amad added.
Several major highways remain closed due to flooding and snowfall, including the Kabul-Jalalabad route, Salang Pass, Kabul-Herat highway and others.
More rainfall and flooding are forecasted in coming days, according to the authority.
