Heavy rainfall and flooding in recent days have destroyed 78 houses, hundreds of jeribs of agricultural land and dozens of livestock in Helmand province, officials said.

Officials from the Helmand Information and Culture Directorate reported the damage occurred in the districts of Nahre Saraj, Sangin, Nozad, Babaji and Musa Qala. The floods, triggered by intense rains, have severely impacted residential and farming areas in these regions.

The destruction of 78 homes has left many families homeless, while the loss of hundreds of jeribs of farmland threatens local agriculture and food security. Additionally, dozens of heads of livestock perished in the deluge, compounding the economic hardship for affected communities.

In response, authorities have evacuated affected individuals to safe areas to ensure their immediate safety and provide necessary assistance amid ongoing recovery efforts.
