Foreign Minister Muttaqi Says Afghanistan Achieved Regional Stability, Notes Limited Diplomatic Recognition
Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi stated that Afghanistan has achieved regional stability following decades of conflict, emphasizing the country’s growing ties with neighboring states. Speaking at a sports program in Kabul attended by representatives from Central Asian nations, Muttaqi highlighted the practical and cooperative nature of Afghanistan’s current foreign engagements.
The foreign minister noted that interactions with regional partners are already formal in practice, even though most countries have not extended official diplomatic recognition to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. He pointed out that, to date, Russia remains the only state to formally recognize the current government.
Muttaqi’s remarks underscored the administration’s focus on consolidating internal security and fostering economic and diplomatic cooperation across Central Asia. He reiterated that the government continues to prioritize stable relations with neighboring countries, viewing regional integration as a cornerstone of the nation’s long-term development.
The gathering featured local officials and international delegates who discussed cultural and sporting exchanges. Muttaqi described these initiatives as evidence of the country’s improving security environment and its capacity to engage with regional partners on practical, mutually beneficial terms. He added that the Islamic Emirate remains committed to maintaining open channels of communication with all neighboring states to ensure lasting peace and economic progress in the region.
