Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Discusses Humanitarian Aid with UN Deputy Secretary-General

Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, held a telephone conversation with United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo.

The discussion focused on the delivery of humanitarian aid to vulnerable Afghans and on steps to improve the effectiveness of assistance programs. Officials examined current aid mechanisms and ways to ensure better reach to those in need.

DiCarlo expressed appreciation for the cooperation and facilities provided by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to humanitarian agencies operating in the country. She noted that this support has helped facilitate aid operations.

DiCarlo also briefed Muttaqi on recent developments and ongoing efforts by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, known as UNAMA.

Both sides emphasized the importance of continued mutual understanding, constructive engagement, and expanded areas of collaboration. They agreed to sustain dialogue on political and peacebuilding matters.

The conversation occurred around the time the UN Security Council extended UNAMA's mandate until 27 Jawza 1406.
