France Delivers 42 Tonnes of Humanitarian Aid to Afghanistan via EU Air Bridge
France has delivered approximately 42 tonnes of humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan through the European Union Humanitarian Air Bridge. The shipment includes 2,680 ready-to-use therapeutic food kits and roughly one tonne of medical supplies, arriving as part of a coordinated international relief effort.
The materials will be transferred to United Nations agencies to address severe acute malnutrition among an estimated 3,200 children under the age of five. This delivery supports a broader European initiative launched in March 2026 to mitigate critical supply shortages. Since the program’s inception, the European Union Humanitarian Air Bridge has facilitated the transport of more than 270 tonnes of specialized nutritional supplies to the country.
Humanitarian requirements across Afghanistan remain extensive. United Nations assessments indicate that nearly 22 million people require assistance. Among the most vulnerable populations are approximately 7.5 million children and pregnant or breastfeeding women who face a significant risk of malnutrition due to ongoing economic and food security challenges.
The French foreign ministry coordinated the logistics of the consignment, with officials noting that the aid will be integrated into established United Nations nutrition programs. The supplies are expected to be distributed through local health facilities and mobile clinics in the coming weeks, providing immediate relief to families in need.
