A new tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment center has opened at Sarwari Private Hospital in Pol-e Khomri, Baghlan province, offering free medical services to local residents. The facility aims to improve early detection of the disease and reduce infection rates across the region.
Health officials from the Baghlan Public Health Directorate attended the opening ceremony and confirmed that the new center will operate without charging patients for consultations, diagnostic tests, or prescribed medications. According to provincial health authorities, the initiative expands the network of facilities providing free tuberculosis care to 43 health centers throughout Baghlan.
Dr. Ahmad Irshad Sahibzada, Dr. Ghulam Mohiuddin Humayuni, and Dr. Khair Mohammad Sarwari, all affiliated with the provincial health directorate, publicly endorsed the center’s launch. They emphasized that expanding access to specialized care is a priority for addressing public health challenges in the province. Officials noted that centralized diagnostic services will streamline patient referrals and ensure consistent treatment protocols.
Tuberculosis remains a significant public health concern in Afghanistan, with health workers frequently citing the need for accessible screening and uninterrupted medication supplies. The new facility in Pol-e Khomri is expected to serve patients from surrounding districts who previously faced travel barriers to reach specialized clinics. Provincial authorities stated that the center will be staffed by trained medical personnel and equipped with standard diagnostic tools to monitor patient progress and manage cases effectively.
