Ghazni Woman Opens Tailoring Workshop for Girls Barred from Secondary School
A woman identified as Baqeri has established a tailoring workshop in Ghazni province, providing vocational training and employment to dozens of girls who have been restricted from continuing their formal education beyond the sixth grade. The initiative aims to equip young women with practical skills and a source of income amid ongoing educational limitations.
Local officials have acknowledged the project as a constructive step toward economic self-reliance for women in the region. Mawlawi Ali Mohammad Mahmood, Ghazni’s Director of Labour and Social Affairs, stated that provincial authorities are actively working to support similar women-led employment initiatives. He emphasized that such workshops align with broader efforts to improve livelihoods and reduce unemployment among young women.
In a related development, Mawlawi Mohammad Musa Abu Mansoor, the province’s Director of Commerce and Industry, announced plans to establish a dedicated market for female entrepreneurs and artisans within the current year. The proposed facility is intended to provide a secure space for women to sell their goods and expand their businesses.
Trainees at the Ghazni workshop described the program as a vital opportunity to gain financial independence and develop marketable skills. An economic expert familiar with the initiative noted that vocational training centers offer a practical alternative for girls facing restricted access to secondary and higher education, helping to mitigate the economic impact of school closures.
The workshop continues to operate with a focus on expanding its training capacity and integrating more participants into the local textile and garment sector.
