Ghor villagers begin funding school building in Kandiwal after years of outdoor classes

Residents of Kandiwal village in Ferozkoh district of Ghor province have started constructing a school building using their own funds totaling 230,000 afghanis.

The one-storey structure will include five classrooms for the local boys' school, where students have studied outdoors for years and suffered health problems from extreme heat and cold.

The Ghor education department reports that 542 of the province's 800 schools lack buildings. Spokesman Zabihullah Wafa stressed the need for continued public participation and coordination with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to address the shortage.
