In the 27th week of Spain's La Liga, Girona defeated Barcelona 2-1 in a Catalonia derby on Monday night, February 16, at Montilivi Stadium, denying Hansi Flick's Barcelona side a chance to return to the top of the table.
Pau Cubarsí put Barcelona ahead in the 59th minute with a header from a short pass by Jules Koundé.
Three minutes later, Thomas Lemar equalized for Girona from a pass by Vladislav Vento.
Fran Beltrán scored the winning goal for the hosts in the 87th minute, assisted by Joel Roca, sparking celebrations at Montilivi.
Barcelona pressed late but failed to equalize. Joel Roca was sent off in stoppage time for a rough foul.
Barcelona stayed on 58 points, two behind Real Madrid. Girona rose to 29 points and 12th place.
