Gravel Laying Begins on Road Connecting Three Districts in Ghazni
Construction work has commenced on a gravel road in the Andar district of Ghazni province, aimed at improving connectivity between Giro, Qarabagh, and Andar districts. The project is being financed through local contributions from residents and jihadi figures, with an estimated budget exceeding 10 million Afghanis.
According to local officials, the road is designed to be 12 meters wide and is expected to be completed within two months. Mawlawi Ghulam Rasool Anas, the district governor, stated that the project will facilitate easier movement for residents and support local trade. While the initial project announcement referenced a 33-kilometer route, the governor specified that the current construction phase covers a 12-kilometer stretch.
To accommodate the expansion, the district council has allocated agricultural land, residential properties, and commercial spaces along the route. Council Chairman Musa Saadat confirmed that landowners have voluntarily dedicated the necessary plots to ensure the road meets its planned width and alignment.
The initiative reflects a community-led approach to infrastructure development in the region. Once completed, the gravel surface is expected to provide a more reliable transportation corridor for daily commuters and commercial vehicles traveling between the three districts. Local authorities have indicated that maintenance and further upgrades will be coordinated with provincial departments as the project progresses.
