KABUL — Afghanistan's Meteorology Department, along with international institutions, has forecasted heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and potential flooding across 30 provinces on 14 and 15 Hamal.
The affected provinces are Kabul, Parwan, Kapisa, Panjshir, Bamyan, Daykundi, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Logar, Paktia, Paktika, Khost, Zabul, Uruzgan, Kandahar, Helmand, Herat, Ghor, Farah, Badghis, Balkh, Samangan, Sar-e Pol, Faryab, Baghlan, Takhar, Nangarhar, Laghman, Kunar and Nuristan.
The National Disaster Management Authority has advised citizens to avoid rivers and high-risk areas during this period.
In a related development, the Ministry of Public Works announced that the Kabul-Jalalabad highway has been closed since 7 p.m. the previous night due to landslides caused by heavy rain.
