Heavy Rainfall and Flash Floods Forecast in Parts of Afghanistan

The Ministry of Water and Energy warned of heavy rainfall and flash floods from June 12 to 13 in several provinces. The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation separately forecast rain, thunderstorms, flash floods and strong winds on Friday.

The Ministry of Water and Energy has warned of heavy rainfall and possible flash floods from June 12 to 13 in the Helmand and Kabul river basins. The warning covers provinces including Ghazni, Paktika, Khost, Paktia, Logar, Laghman, Nangarhar, Kunar and Nuristan.

The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has separately forecast 10 to 25 millimeters of rain, thunderstorms, flash floods and strong winds of 50 to 95 kilometers per hour in multiple provinces on Friday. The provinces include Nuristan, Kunar, Nangarhar, Laghman, Parwan, Maidan Wardak, Logar, Paktia, Khost, Ghazni and Paktika. Strong winds are also expected in central, eastern, southeastern, southern and western provinces.

Residents have been urged to avoid riverbanks to prevent loss of life.
