Heavy rains and flooding have caused widespread destruction in villages near rivers and dams in Afghanistan's Laghman province, damaging homes, agricultural lands, infrastructure and livestock.
Laghman provincial officials reported heavy financial and human losses in the provincial center and some districts. Numerous residential houses have been partially or completely destroyed, agricultural lands ruined with crops lost, and livestock killed, affecting the rural economy.
Public infrastructure, including roads, bridges and water canals, has sustained damage, disrupting movement and daily life for residents. Some families have been displaced due to the flooding.
Provincial officials have requested emergency aid and damage assessments from relevant agencies and organizations.
