Herat Youth Develops Voice- and Mobile-Controlled Smart Robot
Mohammad Younes Jami, a young innovator in Herat province, has designed and constructed a smart robot capable of being operated through voice commands, mobile phones, and computer interfaces. The project, which Jami developed independently over a three-month period, marks his latest effort in local technological innovation.
Jami financed the robot’s development using personal funds. Prior to this project, he successfully built a remotely controlled vehicle, demonstrating a continued focus on engineering and automation. Following the completion of the new device, Jami stated that he is seeking institutional backing to scale his work and establish training programs for other young people interested in technology and robotics.
The initiative has drawn attention from local residents and cultural authorities. Youth in Herat have expressed support for the project, echoing Jami’s call for increased government investment in youth-led innovation. Officials from the Herat Information and Culture Department commended the achievement, noting that the department actively encourages technological advancement through existing cultural and educational initiatives. They emphasized that supporting young inventors remains a priority for local development programs.
Jami’s work highlights a growing interest in grassroots engineering within the province. As demand for locally developed technological solutions increases, advocates say that structured funding and mentorship opportunities could help sustain similar projects and expand technical skills among Afghan youth.
