A senior Hezbollah official stated that the Iran-backed group in Lebanon would not conduct military intervention in the event of a limited US attack on Iran.

According to Agence France-Presse on Feb. 25, the anonymous official described targeting Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei or attempts to overthrow the regime as a "red line" for Hezbollah, which would trigger an "existential battle" response from the group. The official added, "If the US attacks are limited, Hezbollah's position is not military intervention."

The official also commented on recent Israeli attacks on Lebanon, saying Hezbollah's response is limited to supporting the Lebanese government, but continued Israeli attacks "will not be unlimited."

Lebanon's Foreign Minister Yusuf Rigi warned on Tuesday in Geneva that escalating tensions between Iran and the US could target Lebanese infrastructure.

Reuters reported that Israel sent an indirect message to Lebanon, warning that if Hezbollah participates in any conflict, the country would face widespread bombing.
