IEA foreign minister condemns war escalation to Gulf countries in call with Qatari counterpart
Amir Khan Muttaqi, foreign minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, held a phone call with Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, Qatar's minister of state for foreign affairs, during which he stated that the expansion of war to Gulf countries is condemnable and must be stopped.
According to a statement from Afghanistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Muttaqi emphasized that the Islamic Emirate considers respect for countries' national sovereignty, national security, and territorial integrity as an important principle, preferring diplomacy over escalating violence to resolve problems. The two sides also discussed continued Pakistani military aggressions against Afghanistan, per Ariana News. Hasht-e Subh reported that Muttaqi expressed concern over the regional security situation, calling for an end to Pakistan's attacks on Afghanistan as well as U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran.
Al-Khulaifi noted that the region is enduring a difficult period, stating that Iran had launched ballistic missiles and drones toward Qatar, most of which were repelled. He described Qatar as a land of peace that consistently advocates for the peaceful resolution of global disputes.
Both sides agreed to continue contacts, exchanges of views, and efforts to address issues through dialogue and diplomacy.
