India defeats Pakistan by 61 runs in T20 World Cup
Pakistan's national cricket team suffered a 61-run defeat to India in a T20 World Cup group stage match on Sunday in Colombo, Sri Lanka, marking one of its lowest scores in the tournament's history.
India, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, posted 175 runs for seven wickets, highlighted by Ishan Kishan's performance, setting a target of 176 for Pakistan.
Pakistan endured a shaky start, losing key wickets early. Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Salman Agha and Babar Azam departed quickly, leaving the team at 34 for 4 during the powerplay.
Usman Khan offered resistance with 44 runs, but his dismissal triggered further collapses. Mohammad Nawaz, Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashref and Abrar Ahmed followed, as Pakistan was all out for 114 in 18 overs.
This total ranks as Pakistan's third-lowest in T20 World Cup history, behind 82 against West Indies in 2014 and 113 for 7 against India in 2024. Pakistan's lowest score in men's T20 internationals remains 74 against Australia in Dubai in 2012.
